Avery Armstrong
Avery is our tertiary-8th Elementary/Centre School Drama Instructor and has an extensive background in theatre education and a passion for using the arts as a artistic and emotional outlet. She graduated from Southwestern University with a dual track major in English and Film. Through her work with children in the foster care arrangement she discovered a beloved for education and the potential it has to radically alter the course of a child's life. Since graduating she has get a tutor for Reading Quest and a instructor for the Reading is Magic Literacy Plan. Andrew Lescht
Andrew is going into his sixth year as our 3rd / 4th grade teacher. He is dedicated to instruction the whole child and recently began integrating educational activity mindfulness in the Centaur course. Every bit a lifelong learner Andrew is dedicated to advancing his practices. During the summertime of 2019 he participated in the Teacher Ranger Instructor program, in which he spent the summer at Oregon Caves National Monument learning and helping develop curriculum for the rangers. He has a B.A. in Anthropology from State University of New York Plattsburgh, and for many years he split his seasons between working every bit an archaeologist, environmental educator and a ski instructor. His passion for pedagogy led him back to school to obtain an MA in Elementary Teaching from the University of Northern Colorado. Prior to Arts & Sciences, Andrew's classroom experience includes tertiary and 4th grades in Colorado, and teaching at an international school in Republic of ecuador. Annie McLaughlin
This is Annie's first yr at Arts & Sciences as a support teacher for the Grasshopper and Unicorn classes. Annie was born and raised in Northern Virginia and has over eleven years of experience in the early childhood field. She graduated from Boston College with a B.A. in Human Development, and then obtained her Masters of Education and AMI Montessori Educational activity Certificate from Loyola University in Maryland. She has an 8 year old son named Colin and a puppy named Sunny. She loves to bring music and artistic motion into her pedagogy. When she's not at work, she loves to hike, crochet, practice yoga and visit the ocean.
Cassandra Perez
Cassandra Perez, a Santa Fe native, is our American Sign Language (ASL) teacher. She is currently in her fourth year of education. ASL has always been her first language, English language to the second. Her groundwork is diverse; currently, she is a river guide. In the past, she has been a teacher aide, a substitute, a ski technician, and a community garden manager. She has taught several times during ASL Immersion programs at the New Mexico Schoolhouse for the Deafened. She is a mother to two children, Felix (12) and Theo (8). Chintan Kess
Chintan is the atomic number 82 teacher in the combined start and second course Stargazer class. She is committed to bringing best practice to her master students, offering them a curriculum rich in inquiry, play and the arts. She has been teaching at Arts & Sciences since 2001 and holds an A.A. in Early Childhood Multicultural Education from Santa Fe Community Higher, a B.A. in Early Childhood Education from New United mexican states Highlands University and a One thousand.Ed. in Integrated Teaching through the Arts from Lesley University. Eddy Segura
This is Eddy's 15th yr teaching at Arts & Sciences as our K-eight Physical Education teacher and Facilities Manager. For the past eight years, Eddy has also been the Pb Coordinator for the 8th form service trip to Costa Rica. Boil received his BA in Physical Education at the Universidad Nacional in Costa Rica. He has fourteen years of experience teaching P.East. and coaching soccer in schools in Costa Rica and coaches soccer at University for Technology and the Classics in Santa Fe, where he previously taught P.E. Lani Ersfeld
In her 9th year at Arts & Sciences, Lani is our Preschool-8th Grade Castilian Teacher equally well as the Aftercare Coordinator and 5th-8th grade Aftercare Instructor. Lani is from Placitas, NM and attended the Albuquerque Academy for middle and loftier school. She then attended Lewis & Clark Higher in Oregon, majoring in Hispanic Studies and English. During her studies, Lani lived in the Dominican Commonwealth and in Chile, where she solidified her love of the Castilian language and various cultures, and her want to teach it to others. She earned her Master of Arts in Didactics at Lewis & Clark Graduate School with an accent in ESOL. She holds licenses in both New Mexico and Oregon for Elementary Education and Early Childhood Didactics. Lani is instrumental in organizing and planning our 8th grade International Trip to Costa Rica in the Spring. Liza Stanton Hitt
This is Liza's 12th year teaching at Arts & Sciences and her 9th year as lead teacher in the "Grasshopper" Kindergarten class. Liza is a graduate from the Higher of Santa Fe, with a BA in Uncomplicated Education with a TESOL endorsement. Liza is committed to creating a developmentally appropriate early childhood classroom, which instills a dear of learning inside our little ones. This is accomplished through an surroundings that nurtures wonder, discovery, exploration and learning through play. Liza's has iii daughters who take attended Arts and Sciences, one in the Badger class and 2 Alums. Matt Burke Newsum
This is Matt'southward 19th year teaching our 5th-6th course Annoy class. Matt has a BS in Ecology Biological science and Resource Management from UC Davis and has teaching certifications in all subjects from San Francisco State University with endorsements in Math and Scientific discipline. Prior to teaching in Santa Fe, Matt worked for several years in the business world before deciding to go an educator. He then student taught for ii years in Mount View, CA, coached centre school basketball and helped run the Farm and Wilderness campsite programs at Hidden Villa. Ronny Beeman
This volition be Ronny's 5th yr at Arts & Sciences. She is our K-6th grade Art teacher. Previously she served in a variety of roles at Tacoma Waldorf Schoolhouse in Washington, including program director of after care, fifth form lead teacher, and fine art instructor in the early unproblematic grades. Ronny received her Waldorf teaching certificate at Audio Circle Centre in Seattle. Before moving upward to the Due north West, she was a fine art instructor at Mission Renaissance in Southern California. Ronny enjoys spending fourth dimension with family and their herd of cats. Her son Odin is going into fifth class as a Annoy this year! Ronny spends her gratis time painting impish fairies, New Mexico skyscapes and old classic trucks, gardening and swing dancing. She is currently enrolled at the Santa Fe Community Higher to complete a Fine Arts degree and offers an after school and weekend art plan for all. ronny@santafeschool.org
Todd Stiewing
In his 17th year at Arts & Sciences, Todd serves every bit our Principal and Leadership Instructor. For xi years, Todd taught our tertiary and 4th class Centaur class and has served in a variety of leadership positions, including Assistant Primary, Elementary Curriculum Coordinator, Staff Liaison to the Board; lead member of the Campus as Curriculum Committee; and Summer Manager of Facilities. Todd received a B.South. in Elementary Education and a Master's in Educational activity from the Academy of Connecticut. He has over twenty years of pedagogy feel both in the classroom and working with children, teens and adults in outdoor experiential settings. Before moving to New Mexico in 2004, Todd taught 4th course and Pre-K through 5th elementary scientific discipline in Maryland. Todd has many years feel leading wilderness and experiential education courses at schools effectually the country. He has shared his outdoor experience in his leadership classes and by running several hiking and backpacking camps in the summer.
